  • Tablas Creek Vineyard has promoted Chelsea Franchi to director of winemaking and Craig Hamm to winemaker as part of a planned leadership change. Longtime winemaker Neil Collins now serves as director of production to shape long-term strategy for the Paso Robles winery.  Paso Robles Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The California Mid-State Fair announced its 80th anniversary theme 'Back to the 80’s' to guide décor, interactive displays and community exhibits from July 15 to July 26 at the Paso Robles Event Center — marking eight decades on the Central Coast.  Paso Robles Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City officials urge residents to exercise caution with pets after multiple mountain lion sightings near Laguna Lake and in the Irish Hills Open Space, according to City Biologist Freddy Otte. Residents are advised to remain calm and report any encounters to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.  Mustang News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. John Laird introduced Senate Bill 917 to let non-estate wineries sell wine and offer tastings at farmers markets. The bill will let market operators set permit numbers to support more than 700 winegrowers in his district, which includes most of San Luis Obispo County.  Paso Robles Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency received a $21.6 million state grant to renovate the Paso Robles behavioral health facility at 416 Spring Street for crisis and residential care. Officials will present project details at the city council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3.  Paso Robles Daily News
