COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Templeton Glass donated $2,640 to Habitat for Humanity SLO County from its Community Giveback Campaign, raising funds by donating $5 per window installed by homeowners + contractors. The business plans to continue supporting affordable housing in the region.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Travel Paso announced that 15 organizations won Community Events Marketing Grants, receiving over $80,000 in in-kind marketing support to boost local events and tourism in Paso Robles. The grants were awarded after a blind review process completed last November.  Paso Robles Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Peace Academy of Sciences and Our Roots partnered with the city to launch a community-led oral history project in Cal Poly’s Kennedy Library on Saturday, Jan. 24. The event featured fourteen narratives — with photographs, interview excerpts, and artifacts — and ended with a roundtable discussion.  KSBY-TV
  • Death Cab for Cutie will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Aug. 7 as part of its summer headlining tour, with presale tickets available on Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. and general sales beginning Jan. 30 via Ticketmaster. The band follows a sold out global run.  Paso Robles Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cuesta College will start Spring 2026 with increased enrollment and expanded programs for first-time, adult and lifelong learners at its San Luis Obispo and North County campuses (the Cuesta Promise now covers enrollment fees and summer tuition). Local students should apply by June 1 for summer or Aug. 1 for fall enrollment to access scholarship support.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Cal Poly is building new dorms — a project to add 3,500 beds over the next decade. Construction causes sleep and study disruptions and will finish fall 2026, running Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. near Red Bricks dorms.  Mustang News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder and Elections Office invites students (grades 3 to 12) to design ‘I Voted’ stickers for 2026. Entries run from Jan. 27 to March 10 and winners will be announced in April for display on polling materials and the office website.  Paso Robles Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Reagan Leavitt, a junior at Templeton High, has led girls varsity soccer with 9 goals and multiple player of the match awards — her efforts joined by senior Irvin Cueto’s key defensive plays on the boys team.  Paso Robles Daily News
  • Kaylyn Butterfield, a freshman on the varsity women’s soccer team, earned Bearcat Athlete of the Week honors after appearing in 15 games, scoring 2 goals, and making 6 assists — coaches expect to see more from her as the season continues.  Paso Robles Daily News
